Family Fall Festival

With the Fall Festival, I had another chance to practice sometime night-time shots. I’m still working on how to get the proper exposure and focus every time.. and of course, trying to stay out of “Auto” mode!

On Saturday night, I tried some shots with slow shutter speeds, and quickly learned I needed to compensate with my ISO settings! (The first shot, 2 sec shutter, 3200 ISO, was pure white!) After a few experiments, I liked the shots I came up with! Though, I can certainly see the need for a tripod!

With limited time for a true ‘vacation’, I tried to be optimistic and think of a fun and memorable trip for my son and I, and a single idea popped into my mind… “Let’s get hotdogs in Central Park”.

In a one day trip – there by plane in the morning, home by train in the evening (and through the night!) – with only 8 hours and 12 minutes in New York City, here is what we did:

Although this winter had been one of the warmest on record in Michigan, it was still a Michigan winter! With a day off work and spring in the air – today was the perfect day to get our bikes tuned up and head out.
